A note about internal customer service.
We in healthcare focus intently on the patient, and that’s the right thing to do. However, we oftentimes overlook our internal customers...that’s the wrong thing to do. In most healthcare organizations, non-clinical employees make up 30-40% of the organization’s workforce. Not paying attention to the needs of these internal customers can be disastrous. So, regardless of what department you’re in, or what you do for the organization, take a minute to define your customer. Find out what they want and exceed their expectation in delivering it to them.
